The Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus) is the state bird of New Mexico. It is a large (length up to 61cm and wingspan up to 80cm), long legged member of Cuckoo family. The Greater Roadrunner is well known for its distinctive behavior - it prefers sprinting rather than flying and can run up to 15 miles per hour (about 24 km/h).
